Josh Black/May (Maybe?)
It’s been getting progressively hotter. I know I’ve lost track of time, but it feels like June. It can’t be though. I think it’s just a little hot streak in May. I guess it doesn’t matter anyway.
I’ve become obsessed with killing these used-to-be-human-things. I guess it’s a coping mechanism, but I’ve been pretending, in my head, that it’s just an episode of Stargate SG-1. I see myself as Teal’c and I’ve been separated from my team. I’m trying to fight my way back to the stargate to get home. Silly, I know, but it helps keep me calm and focused. It fights down that anxious sick feeling in my stomach while I’m hunting.
I was in an abandoned mail truck. I had just watched three aliens enter a home, across the street and about 4 houses down from my position. I was loaded and aiming for the door. The first alien came out, it looked like a wasp-human mix. Half it’s face with black bulging eyes, one partial wing protruding from it’s shoulder. The second came out, it was kinda insectoid too. The third came out looking like a snake in the face (mixed with human of course) with it’s lower jaw filled with fangs and yellow snake eyes. It’s body looked more like a tangle of human and beetle limbs, two human arms, two insect arms, one human leg and two insect legs where the other regular leg would be. This last one had a skinny teenage boy grasped in his human hand.
I planned my shots quickly, left right middle, aimed and tapped. The first went down, i re-aimed and tapped again. The second went down. As I moved my aim to the third, he darted inside with his hostage. I jumped out of the truck intending to kill the third. as I ran up the porch steps, I barely slowed down to put an extra bullet in each head of the first two aliens. You gotta be sure. I barged in the house and saw the skinny boy on the floor, his neck twisted in a way that meant death. It spurred my rage. I saw the back door ajar and run out of it just in time to see the snake-insect monstrosity enter the wooded area behind the houses. I followed.
I had to slow down and listen once I went into the tree line. I couldn’t see him. I walked for a while, thinking he’d lost me. I reached a clearing and had the feeling of being watched from above. I looked up just in time to see the alien-thing jumping down from a tree on top of me. I felt a piercing in my arm, probably from one of his extra arms.
It had me pinned, I thought I was a goner. The thing was opening it’s mouth and retching as if it was about to vomit on me, then I heard a “thwack” sound and it fell off of me. I passed out.
I awoke to Blondie (Capt. Carter in my Stargate delusion), tying a bandana around my wound. She said, “Are you gonna lay there and sleep all fucking day, or are you gonna get off your ass and help me with this thing before it wakes up?”
