Teegan O’Leary/March 17
Some time has passed since I have written in you Dear Notebook. Not much has happened. I’ve mainly been hanging out here in my bunker with Angel. She’s a very smart dog. She understands and obeys some pretty complex commands. She’s also very protective of me. We’ve gone out a few times together just for fresh air and to see if there has been any change. FYI: Things have changed. They are getting worse. Those “things” are everywhere now. I’m so glad I have this bunker and no one knows about it. Things would be pretty rough right now if I didn’t. The people who aren’t infected seem to have gone crazy, fighting amongst each other for food, weapons, even clothes. I try not to let anyone see me, ever. But yesterday while I was watching the “safe zone” from the graveyard across the street I think I was spotted. Not by one of the infected, by another human. I only know he was normal cause he was hiding from them too. Actually it looked like he was getting ready to storm gates of the baseball field.
I have seen some pretty crazy humans do some shameful things on my nightly jogs through the woods back the crick. There are lots of people hiding back there. Scavenging through trash, fighting over squirrels and racoons and stuff. I guess thier food situation is getting desperate. I would offer the safety of my shelter to them but they seem to be turning into some kind of cult. It scares me.
When I first saw him peeking out from the high branches of a tree, he scared the crap out of me. I was worried he was one of those nuts from the woods. After a few minutes of watching him I relaxed, he appeared to be alone. How the hell did he manage to climb so high up without breaking the branches and falling. I can get pretty high up in a tree but I also only wiegh a little over a hundred pounds. Anyway…I couldn’t really make out what he looked like or the size of his body. I could see the blue of his eyes and the light shade of his blonde hair, but that was about all I could see. He had himself so well concealed in a cluster of leaves and branches, I don’t know how I spotted him in the first place. It was more like I felt him there, rather than saw him there at first. Something about his presence seemed so familiar. His crystal blue eyes seemed to pop out at me. I wonder if I ever took him home from the club. Angel saw him too, but she’s such a smart dog I’m positive he didn’t see her. Her black fur is the perfect camouflage at night. However, I’m pretty sure he saw me, or at least the back of my head as I was running away. Before I took flight I tried to see what he was looking at. I’m almost sure he was plotting on the weapon arsenal within gates of the “safe zone”. To tell you the truth I can’t blame him. If I didn’t have this shelter filled with all these awesome toys I would be lusting after thier arsenal also. Still, I’m starting to feel guilty about hording all these weapons and all this food and everything. I could be helping people. Feeding them and arming them against this alien threat. I don’t know how to go about it though. I was considering signaling to him and possibly making an ally out of him, when Angel let out a low growl as all her hair stood up. Thats her way of telling me its time to move. I left my hiding spot and started to make my way out of the graveyard. One more quick glance over my shoulder in his direction told me he was looking my way. Did he see me? I guess I may never know. I’m going to go back again tonight, maybe Blue eyes will be there.
