Teegan O’Leary/March 5
They almost got me today Notebook. My God they almost got me. They came closer to getting me today than that day I dropped you in the woods. I’m still shaking. I had to pour myself a big glass of vodka to calm myself and I’m still fucking shaking. Yeah I know, I’m pregnant and shouldn’t be drinking but what the fuck a person can only take so much. I can’t believe I made it back here and I’m safe. Not only that I have a new friend with me.
I broke one of my rules today. I went out while the sun was still up. I guess getting lucky all the time gave me a false sense of security. I felt like I needed to see these things in full daylight without anger or fear clouding my vision. I planned only to observe from a distance for a little while and come straight back here. I know it was such a stupid move I want to kick the shit out of myself for it. Funny thing is I didn’t even get that far before I was spotted. I think if I had been any closer to the graveyard where I was headed to, I’d be dead, or one of “them” by now.
I had just left my bunker through the back of the house that leads into the woods. They run parrallel with the “crick”. (a large creek that runs alongside the whole town) I had jogged about five maybe ten minutes and had just passed the park that I hid in that first night after this all began. Slowing down to a walk I was almost to the grade school, debating on which way I should to take to get across the main avenue in our town. I needed to get across the street cause the rec center and the graveyard I wanted to hide in to watch the baseball field are on that side. I had just entered a parking lot, so hiding behind cars and trying to be as soundless as possible I crept cautiosly. I couldn’t shake the feeling that something was….wrong. As concealed as I was, I got to thinking that others could be hidden from my sight just as easily as I was hiding from thiers, but if someone had seen me come in this lot, they would know where I was and I wouldn’t know where they were… Its this kind of paranoid thinking that nearly got me killed. I should never have slowed down. Normally when I venture out I run till I get to my destination. A minimal to fast jog or full out trucking it, whatever. I just run. I don’t think about possible attacks or if maybe I should take this route or that, or maybe someone might see me, cause I know even if they do see me, they’ll never catch me, I’ll be gone before they can call it in.
I was crouched beside a car, I hate to say it but for once I was kinda freaking out. I just didn’t feel right, like something in the air was making me feel sick. I heard a quick, scratchy kind of scuffle on the asphalt behind me. I turned sharply with a blade in my hand. Nothing there. The relief was so sweet I nearly passed out but it was brief. When I turned back around and righted myself there was a man standing in front of me. He was big, very big. Immediately I stood straight up. I had to strain my neck to look up at him. The sun behind him was shining down from the sky light a spotlight from the Heavens. There was nothing Heavenly about him however. I couldn’t make out his hair color or the shape of the features on his face. Honestly I don’t think I could even tell you the color of his skin. Notebook, My Darling. His eyes. His eyes were the color of the ebony keys on a piano. Not only were they black, they were shiny. So shiny I could see my own horrified reflection in them.I found myself lost in them, paralyzed. The world was suddenly an ocean and I was lost to its unforgiving and merciless currents. I Couldn’t fucking move! Fuck, what was wrong with me? He reached his hands out to me slowly as if he knew I was defenseless. Still I could not tear my gaze from those ruthless alien eyes. I never heard her, My Angel.
The next thing I was aware of, I was on my knees and the scene unfolded in front of me was so unexpected and insane I wasn’t sure if I was dreaming or not. Right before my eyes was that disgustingly huge fuckface twitching uncontrollably on the ground while a big black rotweiler tore away at his throat. I’m pretty sure he was already dead but she just kept going. I still don’t really know what happened. It’s like I was under some kind of spell. As shocked as I was however I knew we had to get out of there. I stood up and as I was brushing my knees off I patted my thighs and said “Here Boy”. She turned and growled at me as if she understood. The wierdest thing is I knew why she growled, One quick glance told me “He” was She. I said “I’m sorry girl I didn’t realize, we gotta go though, ya wanna run?” My smart angel-girl gave me a quick yelp scratched her nails across the face of the now very dead body beneath her paws. She trotted over to me and I knelt to scratch her ears and neck while looking around to see if any of this had been heard or seen by on-lookers. I felt the collar and metal tag on my fingertips. “Whats this girl, you gotta name?” She gave me another short yelp” It was a green collar with a round metal tag on it, one word engraved on it shot out at me, “Angel”. The sun was just starting to drop below the horizon but not before I noticed my reflection in the shiny metalic plate. This time it was calm.
